If you don’t have pear, you can substitute grated onion instead. apple sauce should be ok too but I haven’t tried it myself so not totally sure how it will turn out. Good luck!

Yes you can but the meat may burn a little more easily in the oven when you add gochujang. And the flavor will be a bit more heavy but should still be good. Good luck! Also, you should reduce the amount of soy sauce since gochujang is a bit salty while gochugaru is not. Good luck!

So sorry to hear that you are allergic to soy! Yes, you can use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce – it just isn’t as yummy but it works ok most of the time. Maybe you can add a bit of fish sauce sometimes if you feel like soy sauce lacks flavor. Especially when the recipe has Guk Ganjang (Soup Soy Sauce) in it. Cheers!

All the other recipes I’ve found don’t actually taste like the street food ones in Korea. This one does!!!!! I will be making this every week now lol it’s soooo delicious. I added japchae noodles, cheese, and boiled egg. I’m in heaven.

Do you think liquid or coconut aminos would still be effective compared to soy sauce? I recently found out I am allergic to soy and have been looking for other alternatives.
